Sandy Creek Baptist Church   -   Statement of Faith

The Scriptures :

The Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. It is the product of men who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
I Thessalonians 2:13, II Timothy 3:16, Psalm 119:89

The Godhead :

Our God is one, but is revealed in three distinctive persons : The Father, Son, Holy Spirit
I John 5:7, II Corinthians 13:14, I Peter 1:2

The Gospel of Jesus Christ :

Jesus Christ is the Son of God that came as a sacrificial substitute for the sin of all mankind. He was born of a virgin, crucified, buried, and rose again from the dead victorious over death, hell, and the grave; and He is the only way to salvation.
John 3:16, Matthew 26:28, I Corinthians 15:1-11, John 14:6

The New Birth :

You must be Born Again to enter into the Kingdom of God.
John 3:3,16, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8, Ephesians 2:8-9, Acts 4:12

Water Baptism :

Baptism in water by immersion is a direct commandment by our Lord and is for believers only. This is a symbol of the Christian’s life with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:4, Colossians 2:12

The Rapture of the Saints :

The coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent and when He comes the dead in Christ shall rise first, then we which are alive shall be caught up to meet Him in the air.
I Thessalonians 4:16-17, Thessalonians 5:23, Acts 1:11, I Corinthians 15:51-53, Revelation 20:6

Sanctification :

We believe in the doctrine of sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace starting at the time of the new birth and continuing until the consummation of salvation.
I Thessalonians 5:23, II Corinthians 3:18, Philippians 3:12-14, Romans 12:1-2

Heaven and Hell :

We believe there is an eternal life after earth, and there are two choices for every person :
heaven or hell. Heaven is destination and home of all those that would choose to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior. Hell is the destination of the one who physically dies without ever trusting in Jesus. That person is eternally lost in the lake of fire and has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or repenting of his sins.
Hebrews 9:27, Revelation 20:15, John 3:16-18, I John 1:9

The Gift of the Holy Spirit :

The empowering of the Holy Spirit is a gift of God as promised by the Lord Jesus to all believers. This anointing upon the believer enables him to carry out the great commission as a witness, and to be a vessel through which the gifts of the Spirit may flow.
Matthew 3:11, Acts 1:8, Acts 2:1-4, Acts 2:38-39, Acts 4:29-31, Ephesians 5:18

The Local Church Body :

We believe that the local Church Body is God’s instrument in this present age and all Christians should both belong to and be an active part of a local New Testament Church. We believe the Church is a body of believers in whom Jesus Christ lives and works through, and this body is to be directed by the disciplines of God’s Word. They are united together by the Holy Spirit for the purpose of evangelizing the lost, equipping the saved and glorifying God. We believe the Church is a God governed body with the Pastor serving as spiritual leader of the body.
Matthew 16:18, Ephesians 3:21, Acts 2: 41- 47, Hebrews 13:7, I Peter 5:1-4

World Evangelism :

We believe it is the responsibility and privilege of every member of the local church to do everything he can to make the gospel of Jesus Christ available to as many people as possible. Hence, we believe evangelism begins at home as we lead people to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. Then, evangelism spreads to the community, the city, the state, the nation, and to the world. We the energies of the church at to be directed to getting the gospel to the masses of the world and in doing so we are fulfilling the directives of the Great Commission.
Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-20, Acts 1:8
